First Little Library
Lapak Baca Pustaka Temu is a community reading center in Bojong Kulur, a village in Gunung Putri sub-district, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia - the first library to join our program.
Established in 2023, Lapak Baca Pustaka Temu is the first participant in our Little Library program for the period of April to June 2024. It is managed by the people who share a common interest in raising awareness about the importance of literacy in their community by promoting reading and learning.
Lapak Baca Pustaka Temu is located in a village park of Bojong Kulur, next to a main road. The initiative presents financial challenges and concerns to the team and without any physical structure such as roof and walls, the library must close down during rain to protect its books and collections.
Fortunately since November 2024 Lapak Baca Pustaka Temu has been given temporary access to make use of a repurposed shipping container which was previously functioned as the village library.
